In PNRI-regulated radiation safety programs, the person authorized to manage the program is the Radiological Safety and Health Officer. This role is designated to oversee every aspect of protecting people from ionizing radiation, including setting procedures, ensuring proper dosimetry and monitoring, keeping records, coordinating training, and ensuring compliance with licensing and regulatory requirements. The RSHO has the authority to enforce safety measures, approve changes to procedures, and stop work if conditions are unsafe, making them the primary point of responsibility for the program. Other titles describe related duties but do not carry the full official mandate to run the radiation safety program within PNRI’s framework.
